"This movie is relentlessly bleak from start to finish and offers no resolve. People will either love or hate it based on its lack of plot as Harmony Korine is known for making movies that feel more like character studies than movies. However if one watches the movie from the perspective of watching a documentary on a poverty, post-disaster town and the people living in it, they will find a lot more enjoyment in the film."
"My favorite scene in gummo is called “down right evil Monologue” and I would recommend watching it to understand this film. The scene with the kids riding bikes down the hill is a true depiction of down right evil as you might laugh at them and the intensity of the scene at first but later in the film you notice that evil and good come in all sorts of forms and the human experience is dirty and in that dirt we find our humanity. This film is probably the most important independent film ever made in the pop culture genre. This film and its creator are authors of a genre of pop culture wave of influences that can be seen in modern social media musicians such as Mac miller and 69. Scene by scene watching gummo from start to finish is a trial of movie watching ability as it is off putting and known to be deeply reaching in terms of its physic holiday dream atmosphere and overall echo in the times when it comes to internet culture and the back ally after party culture of Hollywood where the writers smoke cigarettes with the washed up one hit wonders and everyone cheers the new guy. This film influenced Mac miller and therefore much of modern SoundCloud music and overall Aesthetic when it comes to the Lofi genre can be connected to the dream like quality of this work."
