"Sordid Lives" is about a family in a small Texas town preparing for the funeral of the mother. Among the characters are the grandson trying to find his identity in West Hollywood, the son who has spent the past twenty-three years dressed as Tammy Wynette, the sister and her best friend (who live in delightfully kitschy homes), and the two daughters (one strait-laced and one quite a bit of a loser).

"🍿 SORDID LIVES (2000)
It’s no Academy Award-worthy film, but this sure put a smile on my face :) It’s delightful, light-hearted, and #campy.
🌟6.5/10🌟 (but 4⭐️’s for its message about #acceptance, and for the portrayals by Beth Grant and Leslie Jordan).
This was like watching a #live_action version or low-budget stage-play production of Mike Judge’s ‘King of the Hill,’ but if you crossed it with a little bit of ‘To Wong Foo,’ and a little bit ‘Golden Girls,’ and perhaps some other sitcom I can’t quite put my finger on….
It was queer, it was a lil’ bit early 1980’s small town-Texas #whitetrash (not trashy, really… just felt like sayin’ white trash! 🤠), and it was gay, gay, gay!! 😜 Lots of laugh-worthy, colorful & fun characters.
What I mostly liked about it was laughing at the the thick #Texas accents & the silly hick-town country names of the characters, and the fun little clip at the very end after the movie, set to a Tammy Wynette song 🎶
