In this fictional documentary, U.S. prisons are at capacity, and President Nixon declares a state of emergency. All new prisoners, most of whom are connected to the antiwar movement, are now given the choice of jail time or spending three days in Punishment Park, where they will be hunted for sport by federal authorities. The prisoners invariably choose the latter option, but learn that, between the desert heat and the brutal police officers, their chances of survival are slim.

"this movie is a miracle. everything said and done in this movie (watch the introduction, its mandatory for understanding its context) is STILL relevant to this day. resisting the system nets you potential access to water. compliance ends in inevitable, possibly slow and torturous, death. i think everyone should watch this from start to finish. the victim-blaming is textbook. i have met people like every single one of those cops, and every single one of those tribunal members. i recognize patterns, and i recognize games made unwinnable by design, because i've grown up within one."
"This movie is still plenty relevant today, but I have to admit it seems incredibly biased and the main antagonists are made so comically caricaturistic that it sort of weakens the point that I think it's trying to make "
