"▪️Even though this movie has a really low IMDB score, I wanted to watch this movie for 2 reasons: It has a good cast (Tom Hanks along with Patton Oswalt play two co-founders of a giant tech company, & Emma Watson plays a new employee), & I MOSTLY was excited for it’s premise about ideas & issues concerning #surveillance & invasive #technology 🆚 one’s right to privacy. (The cast also includes John Boyega in a #mysterious role & a handful of other big name actors).
▪️MY THOUGHTS: This movie had a really strong & #interesting FIRST HALF — The intro really sucked me in — I liked how the interviewer guy spitballed with Emma Watson’s character just to see if she’d be a good fit for the company, AND, after she had been hired, I got a good laugh out of the two “creepy” employees who were sent to integrate her into this mysterious company — HOWEVER, I suppose there just wasn’t enough dramatic tension or a big climax, and, ultimately, it had an ending that was almost “too neatly” wrapped up…. Nevertheless, I’d still #recommend this 👍🏾
So, come join The Circle ⭕️, you guppy “Circlers,” and don’t forget to drink the Koolaide! 😉 #hbomax #thriller #drama #science_fiction "
"Excuse me? Why does this have to have a good cast, yet essentially no plot?? There was no proper climax and nothing to resolve. Barely any drama and no proper ending for peace of mind. It was just all ideas and futuristic stuff that didn’t expose anything or have despicable antagonists for the protagonist to fight. Kinda boring but I hate to say that since it stars Hanks :/"
"A movie that has great potential, but squanders it in an attempt to seem more important than it is. "

"The Circle had me utterly entranced, like a Truman Show viewer glued to their screen – until it abruptly cut to black, leaving me bewildered and begging for closure.
Tom Hanks as Eamon Bailey, the charismatic CEO of tech giant The Circle, sent chills down my spine. His portrayal of a visionary turned manipulative cult leader was terrifyingly brilliant. Emma Watson, playing young recruit Mae Holland, delivered a compelling performance – her character's transformation from wide-eyed newbie to brainwashed devotee was hauntingly realistic.
The film's themes of privacy invasion, social media obsession, and corporate control resonated deeply. The Circle's campus resembled a hip, Orwellian playground – eerie and thought-provoking. As Mae navigated this dystopian workplace, I found myself pondering our own society's willingness to sacrifice freedom for convenience and connectivity.
But just as tensions peaked and secrets began unraveling, the movie ended. Abruptly. Without resolution. Mae's ultimate stance on The Circle's totalitarian regime? Unknown. The fate of her rebellious friend Ty? Left dangling. Eamon Bailey's true intentions? Forever shrouded in mystery.
This cliffhanger conclusion felt like a betrayal – as if the filmmakers expected me to fill in the blanks or wait for a sequel that never came. Despite this glaring flaw, "The Circle" remains a captivating cautionary tale worth watching – if only to spark vital conversations about our increasingly surveilled world."
