"literally had no idea this movie was called “ballerina” i tried to search “Leap!” over and over until i got frustrated and googled it and found out they’re essentially the same except in the US it’s called “Leap!”
idk, saw someone else say Leap! is better anyways? don’t take my word for it lol"
"This is a fun movie, but you don't want to watch this version. There are two versions of this movie, Ballerina & Leap! Ballerina is the quick copy of the french film that had low quality voice actors & quick dialogue. Leap! Is the one they put effort into. Better voice actors, some stayed the same. Better dialogue & no awkward silences. I liked this version only because Likewise doesnt have Leap! As an option. And yes they are different. Leap! You can buy in stores, Ballerina is on netflix.
Now that I've clarified Leap! Is the movie you want, I can review it. The story is fine and definitely sappy. However, you watch and fall in love with the main character and her passion. It becomes your own and you're soon invested in how it will continue.
The characters can be a bit much at times but they're fine. The main male character is oftentimes annoying and you do want him to go away a lot. But he also happens to be a great comedic relief in a lot of ways. The heart of the story lies in the relationship between characters, especially the main two and the writers know exactly when they need to use it. It made the plotline more intriguing to have the both of them there. Plus, the rest of the characters really tie things together and keep you invested in unexpected ways.
Now the climax. Its a bit much and kind of feels like a kid wrote it. Basically, it doesn't feel real or right in many ways. And no don't get confused by the dance climax part, I mean the action climax. Watch the movie and you'll understand. The actual climax can be a lot and really seems like the animators just wanted to show off the Statue of Puberty a bit too much. Still, it works and makes the male main have a greater purpose.
Overall, a fun heartfelt story that gets under your skin and you can't help but enjoy. The ballerina version of the Karate Kid. Also, I truly hope I get a sequel from this. I think it be so fun to see."
