"If you follow my reviews, you know that I am currently watching The Conjuring universe movies with my daughter. She wanted to watch them in the order they were released, and I usually let her have her way. Not this time, though. I wanted to watch them in chronological order as they would have transpired in real life. We first watched The Nun, which took place in 1952, then The Nun II, which took place four years later in 1956. Tonight it was time for Annabelle: Creation, which began in 1946 but jumped ahead 12 years to 1958 for the majority of the movie. Tomorrow we will watch Annabelle, which took place in 1970, one year before the first Conjuring movie takes place.
I have liked each movie a lot, but this movie was definitely the scariest of the three. So much of it is just scene after scene of dread inducing situations. I loved it!
I'm someone who likes origin stories and I definitely wanted to know Annabelle's origins first, before watching the other two movies. I feel watching them in this order worked better for me.
This movie was especially good since it's almost Halloween and I'm very excited to watch the next movie tomorrow night!"
"The Annabelle movies are notoriously bad in my eyes, but after rewatching the series and this film for the first time they seem to be a lot better than I remember. I think 8 year old me watching the first Annabelle for the first was just annoyed by how unscary it was. This movie is probably my favorite of the series! It also manages to fills all the plot holes!"
