"This movie would have been better served if they didn't try so hard to connect it to the original. It should have been a stand alone movie outside of The Exorcist universe. There were multiple mentions of Regan and then to have Ellen Burstyn reprise her role served no purpose. And then to have Regan show up for 2 seconds at the end was really annoying.
The special effects were ok and the two young girls did a fine job but that's about where the compliments end. It wasn't scary at all. Just mildly creepy. 5.5/10"
"Honestly not a fan of this installment. I may be a bit harsh on it, but only because I love the original so much. It changed the face of horror forever, and this one is just not up to the level by a mile. I mean it’s fine, it’s an exorcism movie like any other. Not special. Not a *terrible* movie, just doesn’t deserve the title connection to the original. "
"I’ll give credit and two stars to the girls and the acting. It started off with being such a good and strong story but then the plot suddenly took a twist to typical exorcism scenes some quite ridiculous. I wish they spent a bit of time to try and perfect the exorcism scene because the ending was not bad. "

"Only giving this 4 stars because it had me laughing the entire time!
….I mean teenagers are like that I guess 🤣🤣
I wanted to love this but take it from me - please don’t pay for this. They overdid the sfx, the editing was a dumpster fire and it was a tad preachy. The sound effects were the best part of this movie - definitely induced anxiety when it needed to. I also enjoyed Katherine’s parent’s decision to drag her to church while she was rotting from the inside out. "
"A half decent mainstream exorcism/possession movie. Some connections to the original, but they feel wasted and out of place. The actors, especially the 2 young girls, are very talented. It started strong and I enjoyed it for the most part, but it had big shoes to fill. It failed to do so because it didn't leave me scared or nostalgic in the end, feeling as though it wasn't creative enough to be its own film and wasn't iconic enough to be considered a good sequel."
