Muriel, or the Time of Return

"Such an odd movie, perhaps avant- garde. It uses multiple rather disjointed screen shots to suggest different characters perspectives, not sure why. The story follows a mother- son and their love interests and friends. The son has had a traumatic army experience involving Muriel- a character only mentioned but who was tortured and killed (perhaps). The story gets lost in an attempt to show not tell the relationships. I found it tedious- perhaps partially lost in translation. "
