"This is a shark 🦈 movie with a much bigger budget, but a low-rent plot. Believe it or not, but the first film actually had some merit to it. The plot of the sequel surrounds the remaining crew from the first adventure. Throughout the story, the plot becomes more and more over-the-top, and ridiculous. Yes, I know, I usually like that. But for a movie that is TRYING to be serious about the horror of shark 🦈 attacks, and the intelligence of capturing or killing them, it simply doesn't work out. I don't believe that I need to address the acting in this movie. You can guess what it is like. Maybe The Meg 3 will add Transformers or something! 😂😁 At least that will hold my interest! 🤣"
"I knew what I was getting into when I saw the original, a bit of mindless fun with a really big shark. But this sequel was a huge waste of time. I found myself shaking my head with disbelief so many times that my neck hurts. The dialogue in this script and the story itself is so bad that it seems like a middle school kid wrote it. There are so many plot holes that I can't even count and the action is so over the top that it is ridiculous. 2/10"
"The graphics weren’t as good as the first movie and the storyline was predictable. "

"Such a long fall from the top. The meg was so awesome, well done and cool, was incredibly excited to see part 2 and it disappointed me beyond words. Was so bored throughout this movie, it lost my attention and interest constantly. Was expecting nonstop cat vs mouse chase of jonas and the meg instead he was fighting PEOPLE 80% of the movie. And then a kraken??? The little aquatic dinosaur things??? Idk they lost me completely. Also the new random and pointless characters thrown into the mixing? For what? No storyline, basically zero introduction...I would never watch this again or recommend tbh. Such a disservice to the first one."
"I avoided watching this so much. I truly enjoyed the Meg movie. Loved the story, characters, situation, cinematography, idea, everything! It was a suspenseful fun time I couldn't get enough of. So I was terrified this would be a cash grab sequel that would ruin the mystique of the first movie. But it didn't!
Everything I worried about didn't happen. I thought they'd make him a loner all over again who avoided everyone from the first film & basically rehash the story. I also thought they'd avoid mentioning what happened to his relationship like almost every other monster sequel out there. Yet it's just like the Meg to surprise me yet again. They didn't & instead made a great sequel that avoided the dumb sequel cliches. In true great movie fashion it expanded the world & showed something new while still rehashing the old just enough to make it worth watching after the 1st.
The story is fine, cliche filled but fine. It actually was fun to watch even if the initial shock is what kept me going. The parts that made the Meg movie so intriguing do take a while to take effect in this sequel though. It has a lot to cover before you get to what you truly loved about the Meg. Which is one of my main nitpicks about this story. While expanding the characters& story was amazingly done, it lost the suspense of the 1st. You still get shocked & on edge but it's not to the extent the 1st did. You're coasting through this story as opposed to heart pumping. There are tiny moments that they brought back you'll love to see again. Then near the end they try to overload you so it feels forced. The situations have gone to the extreme & almost fantastical side instead of sci-fi realistic we were used to. They overdid it near the end basically.
Overall, a great sequel that honors the first even without giving you everything you yearned for. It does the first justice storywise but loses the actual monster story suspense until the climax starts. Still a fun ocean movie you'll watch again."
