"Such an impactful movie that retells the true story of an Uruguayan rugby team that's plane crashes into the Andes, leaving them stranded. This story was adapted into a film in 1993 under the title Alive, and whether you've seen that one or not, I would heavily encourage you to watch Society of the Snow. The movie is filmed in Spanish and casted with Uruguayan and Argentinian actors for the roles, which gives a truer feel to the original story. The movie is also based on a book written by Pablo Vierci, an Uruguayan journalist, who was also involved in the movie's production. By comparison, I think this new adaptation shows how much the movie industry has improved, outside of the obvious techological advances. Unfortunately, it did not win any Oscars, though it definitely deserved at least one. The amount of care and respect that went into the making of this is so evident in each detail. From paying homage to every victim and survivor, to radiating every emotion in each dilemma they suffered. I can't think of a reason to take even half a point off the rating, so 10/10❄️
PS The plane crash scene is very intense/violent, just a warning for those with queezier stomachs :)"
"I watched this film and also watched Alive. I liked both films but I absolutely loved ALIVE and thought that film was very much underrated. All the way down to the beautiful movie score, it had heart and soul and told a harrowing survival story. Both films pretty much told the same story with a few minor details. I realize that this film the survivors looked much more like the real survivors and that a bit more was shown how emaciated from starvation they were."

"I’ve never heard of this story before. I know for a fact I wouldn’t have survived 1 day. Watching the movie alone gave me shivers from the cold, wind, ice and… starvation which eventually led to cannibalism. It’s truly a miracle anyone survived this crash. And… to relive all the trauma while choosing to help make this movie is courageous. A must watch. "

"Do not eat before watching this film! Or eat while watching this film for that matter. Anyhow this movie visually stunning intimately brings you as best as it can into this experience and true story. Acting is insanity. This is a must watch I cried I cringed I was in disbelief that this is an actual true story."
"3.5 ⭐️ a little bit too long but overall a good film and the ending was beautiful and emotional. "
