"Tilda Swinton’s best role - fabulous movie adaptation of a book that was essentially a love letter from Virginia Wolf to her lover Vita Sackville-West. Excellent supporting cast, including cameos from Jimmy Somerville (Bronski Beat) and Quentin Crisp (as Queen Elizabeth I, no less). #lgbtqhistory "

"⭐️⭐️⭐️
I watched this film after reading the book, so take from that what you will. Honestly not sure if reading the book enhances one's enjoyment of the film but it would certainly enhance one's understanding. I think it's a solid adaptation of the book, although the ending was the most different scene and pretty weird. Or, at least, weirder than the rest of the film. In case you don't know, this story is pretty strange to begin with, and the film captures the book's strange charm pretty well. I just think Orlando is a tough book to adapt since it has minimal plot and dialogue and most of its substance derives from Virginia Woolf's observations. In conclusion, definitely try this film if you like period pieces that are mostly vibes rather than plot, cover multiple time periods, and have beautiful costuming."
