Set 1,300 years after the events of How to Train Your Dragon, dragons are now just a legend to the modern world. When a geological anomaly opens an immense, miles-deep fissure in the Earth’s surface, scientists from all over the world gather at a new research facility to study the mysterious phenomenon. Soon a group of misfit kids, brought to the site by their parents, uncover the truth about dragons and where they’ve been hiding -- a secret they must keep to themselves to protect what they’ve discovered.

"Surprisingly good, but the character design is hard to get past. They look like cheap toys you'd get in a bargain bin. Whoever thought that was a good idea was on something.
The story though is worth it. How to train your dragon had great TV series to follow it. This one did not disappoint either. Sure it's a little jarring to come to modern times for it but I like the twist. The fisure is also interesting and makes sense that would lead to everything else happening.
I think the characters are fun enough. They don't truly flesh out their personalities until later though. I enjoy the parents more than I thought they would but that's because they have such a small role in later seasons.
I can't wait to see how they'll end up being discovered. Like of course we don't want that to happen but for a story it's going to eventually. Looking forward to that outcome.
It does kind of copy the dragon series from the original show later on. Buzzsaw is clearly Dagur reincarnated. Which only makes me guess how he will turn out. I'm not sure how I feel about his progress in the newer seasons but it's fine.
IMPORTANT! I don't recommend rewatching the whole series each time a new season comes out though. The later seasons are basically just another release of more episodes. Similar to when Netflix releases half the season then the other half later. I say this because the season endings lately aren't true season endings. They're more cliff hanging moments if they are even that. Just watch the new season when it comes out, don't rewatch the season before it. I haven't so I can't promise it'll keep your attention and interest if you rewatch it. I have rewatched the first season twice but the 1st season is an exception."
"Bad animation, character development is clunky and basically non existent, all the main characters (except Alex) are annoying as heck and it just feels like a cheap money grab with none of the care and charm that made the original movies and even the shows so special."
