"I hate HBO or MAX or whatever. It used to be my favorite. But this is fantastic. An imaginative, smart, nerdy, trippy, adult, funny time. A man and his tortoise grow a mushroom that cures everything. HOF’er Mike Judge is heavily involved. The cast is awesome. There’s some cool action scenes. But it wins by having heart as well. "
"This show is perfect, in my opinion. Everything. Animation, voice actors, plot, relationships, psychedelic healing 'shrooms. It's smart and funny. It's basically about how evil big pharma is along with the government and also a large population of regular folk. It's about doing the right thing even when you have no idea what that is. It's about human nature and what lengths some people will go to for money. It's about love. Love for your parent, love for your child, love for your work partner, love for a possible mate, and love for a turtle.
The first season is a commentary on big pharma and how they keep us sick to line their pockets.
Possible spoilers below...
What happens if you find a miracle cure that can even bring you back from the brink of death? What happens when you want to make it free to the entire population? What happens when big pharma will do anything to keep that from happening? What happens when you can't figure out how to grow more of the miracle cure? What happens when your best friend is a turtle you found in Peru? What happens when I tell you you have to watch the show to find out?
I'm so happy that it was picked up for a 2nd season. This season has 10 short episodes, which probably took me about 4-5 hours to binge. The season ends on a hopeful note, but I'm not sure how much big pharma will play into the next season. It seems like season 2 will be a lot more about finding out what is causing the really weird side effects of the miracle cure. It's extremely psychedelic and even seems to cause telepathic connections...? Also, what happens to your mind if you take too much, like one person does at the end of the season? I think this natural healer has a lot more going on than anyone can understand & it's going to take us on a fantastical journey with little white naked agendered babies & bouncing squishing morphing colorful letters/shapes/blobs. Word of warning: Body horror can still be disgusting and terrifying even when it's animated!"
"PERFECTION"
