"You have no idea what you're getting into with this show, and it's the best thing.
Forget cliches, this show is making an original out of everything & ready to show you a new plotline that'll start cliches in the future. What I mean by that is that it will shock at some point, & almost all the points. Whatever you expect will happen, it's gonna throw a curveball. Even when you get it right, the method to getting there zigs & zags all over the place. The world building is absolutely phenomenal, & you can't expect how it'll continue. You'll wonder how there are so many seasons, even though every season has around 50 episodes a piece, & still there not be enough there.
It's an anime that deserves to be at the top. The characters, the magic, the twists, & the story all of it is truly something special & it only gets better as you go along.
Now, what's the problem with it? Well, it can be tiring at times. The amount of recaps will annoy the heck out of you. You'll only want to watch on netflix so you can skip all the recaps of what you just watched previously, you do get used to it. There is a lot here. But there's a reason there's so much, & it still astounds audiences all over the world. The action & battles can get to be a bit much, but for some reason you'll want to come back even if you do stop watching at some point.
For example, I watched season 1, 3 times before finishing it. Then I was hooked for season 2. Stopped a few episodes into 3. Then binged the entirety of the show until the end of 4 after a year. & I still went back for the movie too.
Why? Because by golly you don't know what's going to go down. Everything you can think of expands in unexpected ways. You love the comedy. You'll love the multitude of varying characters. You'll even love the annoying bits after a while. When those flashbacks hit, better be prepared to get sad & root for a character you used to hate. Because it'll keep you at the edge of your seat, if you can stick around to finish it."
"Just finished catching up on Black Clover, a #fantasy #action #anime centering on Asta, a boy who lacks the ability to use magic living in a medieval-style world where everyone else can use magic to some extent. He is, however, fated for something very unique. So far, 170 episodes in, I've really enjoyed it. A lot of typical shonen anime fare, with the power of friendship, never giving up, and always believing in yourself saving the day. Minimal fan service. One of the supporting characters has an unhealthy obsession with his kid sister, which is played for laughs and glossed over (the other characters remark that it's weird, gross, or creepy, but dont, like, intervene). Aside from that, which is a common cross-cultural issue for Japanese materials in western audiences, I'll give it 4 clover leaves out of 5. I'll update once it comes off hiatus (speculated to be after the movie is completed). I know some of you reading this in Fantasy Land might not like anime, but there's some great animated fantasy content from the east. Check it out. "
