#1 Indie Next Pick!A Hall of Fame LibraryReads pick! One of People’s Best Books to Read in FebruaryA dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically and The Love Hypothesis. Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again... Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was…. Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she's ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.

" 2 ⭐️ Gave up at chapter 11 and skimmed the rest. I don't know why I do this to myself 𝩄 I don't know why I keep giving AH another chance, maybe it's because this was paranormal romance and the cover was cute but this was not it...
The world building was lacking and consisted of info-dumps, the enemies-to-lovers trope was non-existent (even though their species are sworn enemies), I didn't feel the chemistry between the main couple and was cringed out of my mind with the spicy scenes.
The one thing I did like: The lack of dramatic size-descriptions of the mmc that AH is known for 𝨂
Good on AH for branching out and giving paranormal romance a try, but maybe stick to contemporary.

"Do yourself a favor and look up canine mating information prior to reading this book so you’re not as taken aback as I was when it comes up. This book has much of what I’m looking for; fantasy and romance with a dash of mystery and magical land politics. While some twists were easy to spot, others were “knot”. IYKYK. Overall I enjoyed the read."
"This was a weird one for me. Some parts were beautifully written and then others felt…forced in a way. I felt this missed a lot and didnt have enough. The plot went in weird directions at different times and it just felt like a lot. I enjoyed it but it was difficult to get through at some points. "
