Andrea Hannah's Where Darkness Blooms is a supernatural thriller about an eerie town where the sunflowers whisper secrets and the land hungers for blood. The town of Bishop is known for exactly two things: recurring windstorms and an endless field of sunflowers that stretches farther than the eye can see. And women—missing women. So when three more women disappear one stormy night, no one in Bishop is surprised. The case is closed and their daughters are left in their dusty shared house with the shattered pieces of their lives. Until the wind kicks up a terrible secret at their mothers’ much-delayed memorial. With secrets come the lies each of the girls is forced to confront. After caring for the other girls, Delilah would like to move on with her boyfriend, Bennett, but she can’t bear his touch. Whitney has already lost both her mother and her girlfriend, Eleanor, and now her only solace is an old weathervane that seems to whisper to her. Jude, Whitney's twin sister, would rather ignore it all, but the wind kicks up her secret too: the summer fling she had with Delilah's boyfriend. And more than anything, Bo wants answers and she wants them now. Something happened to their mothers and the townsfolk know what it was. She’s sure of it.Bishop has always been a strange town. But what the girls don’t know is that Bishop was founded on blood—and now it craves theirs.

"I finished the book, and that makes it a 2 at least. The concept was great but I found it poorly executed and not much of a thriller or horror. I think it would have been better served had it been about 2 leads rather than 4. Each of the girls was more or less the same. There was the angry one, the lesbian, the lesbians twin, and the mom of the group. Without the author starting each chapter with a clear name drop I really don't think I could have been able to tell who's perspective we were reading."
"First off, the concept was killer and I love oddities and this premise was an amazing start for me. I was hooked from the first bit, although the pacing really through this book off kilter. It was very repetitive in some parts and made the story drag in the pacing. This is a perfect cozy book for September/October spooky season if you have the time. It just could've been a bit shorter and conveyed the same story. My overall rating for this book is 3/5.

Extended Breakdown:
Characters: 3/5
Story: 4/5
Pacing: 2/5

TikTok: @wvbookwitch
Blog: http://wvbookwitch.blogspot.com/"
"Many different elements and topics are woven together to create this amazing mystery. I have a hard time finding books I enjoy but this one caught my attention from the start with its beautiful cover and the inside was just as good, if not better, than the outside. I 100% recommend this book."
"In a strange city, four girls go through life after their mothers disappearance. Delilah is the mom of the group, calm and reserved, Bo is the spontaneous one, Whitney longs for her lost girlfriend, and Jude is the shy and big hearted one. Together, they decide to investigate to have a better understanding of their moms’ disappearance while uncovering the town’ secrets.

I have to start this review by mentioning how stunning this book’s cover is. The sunflowers actually look intimidating, and the plants growing from the girl’s face are made so beautifully. Every single detail refers to something mentioned in the novel, and is done perfectly.

As for the story, I was quickly immersed in Andrea Hannah’s world and could not stop reading. The writing was well done, the story was captivating, and the characters were developed.

I loved how each girl had a goal and how they were all intertwined. I loved how each of them had a distinct personality and how easy it was to differentiate them. I loved the mystery aspects of the book, especially the one surrounding the sunflowers.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes YA thriller with a touch of supernatural."
