"DNF (which is unusual for me)
(I'd like to preface that the mc experiencing a heavy loss and 'trauma-dumping' as others called it was probably the best and most realistic part of this, given that the author wrote this due to a loss of their own.)
I didn't understand how the guy giving a non-reader who hates reading a list of books to read as a way to pay her back for her help, was seen as a gift.
A reader might see this as an amazing thoughtful gift, but a person who hates reading?
Not to mention the guy isn't even seen as a person, and him smiling simply is described as 'pan*y-dropping' and he's constantly seen as a sex object instead of the usual oh look at this attractive guy. Felt very uncomfortable and that's coming from a person who consumes 🌶️-y books.
And then the simple act of the guy giving her a list of books in exchange for her help makes the main girl call a meeting with her friend and sister and everyone's screaming and jumping and making a huge deal of it, and I was left confused and getting annoyed.
DNF. "
"I don’t enjoy cursing and the love scenes were a little much for my taste"

"This is going to be my most detailed review ever. This book by far has been one of the most horrendous romance books I have read. This book is the equivalent of a tumbler FANFICTION post, the pacing is terrible and at the beginning it was so slow to introduce the male character, but then * SPOILER WARNING* they go on two “dates” which those dates weren’t really dates and the first date was just the main girl character trauma dumping on the guy and WE DONT KNOW ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE GUY AT ALL OTHER THAN HES HOT AND HE WRITES BOOKS AND DOES CROSSFIT. On the second date they go on the hike, and the guy throws up blah blah blah now forward to, the main girl gets into a fight with her dad at her bookstore and her dad is accompanied by this man named Connor, we know nothing about Connor, but he slightly flirts with the main girl, Drew, now the main male character, jasper, comes in a day early from some book conference meeting to surprise Drew with some burgers. Okay now some stuff happens her dad and Connor leave and her dad throws like a hissy fit, okay right, now Drew and Jasper go to the back office alone and they’re talking apparently Jasper knows Connor and there is implied that they have beef. Now this is 14 chapters in deep, I know nothing about jasper and im expecting some sort of heart to heart moment with these characters where we get to learn a little more about jasper… BUT WE DONT GET THAT WE GET THEM MAKING OUT, THIS HAPPENS OUT OF NO WHERE LIKE WHAT YOU BARELY KNOW THE GUY. Okay but whatever right I got to chapter 16 and they’re going to a concert together, now he’s wearing a fit and drew is like “woah what’s with the Harry style’s look” and he looks at her and says “I just want that watermelon sugar high” AND IF YOU KNOW KNOW THAT SONG IS ABOUT EATING . WE KNOW NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT THIS GUY, THEYVE BEEN ON TWO “dates” MADE OUT OUT OF FREAKING NO WHERE AND NOW NOW HES TALKING ABOUT EATING HER 🐱. Couldve gotten the same experience on tumbler"
"It had cute points but overall was kinda dull. The characters were flat that the ending thrown together. An easy book to bring to the beach if you want to read start to finish in a couple hours."

"I totally binged this book. I only had 2 problems with this book. First, Jasper, the love interest of the book didn't have much of a personality other than being a nice guy to Drew (a woman- I just wanted to clarify since it's a bit atypical). I get that he's not the main focus of the story but I still wanted more from him as a character. He was only the "perfect" guy and that's it. Second, the conflict between Jasper and Drew was resolved too quickly. It was resolved within the span of 30 pages. But what I did like was the community of characters Drew was surrounded by- she had girl friends and the Book Club called the Dirty Birds. I loved the support and push she got from the other characters. I really liked how this book was more about bringing more love into her life and grieving the loss of her grandmother vs. purely dating. I even more appreciated the story behind that- the author who was grieving the loss of her mother during the time in which she wrote this book. So she fully understood what she was talking about. Also, there were 2 spicy scenes for those who were asking."
