“[A] gorgeous and satisfying thriller.” —Booklist (starred review) Perfect for fans of Courtney Summers, this seductive and intense thriller unfolds in interwoven timelines of two summers as three friends are torn apart by buried secrets and star-crossed attraction…then pulled back together by tragedy.Amy Larsen has spent every summer with her cousin Ben and their best friend Teddy in River Run, Kentucky, loving country life and welcoming the break from her intensive ambitions and overbearing mother—until the summer she and Teddy confront the changing feelings and simmering sexual tension growing between them, destroying the threesome’s friendship in a dramatic face-off. One year later, Amy returns to River Run dreading what she might find. But when Teddy’s sister disappears, Amy, Ben, and Teddy agree to put aside their differences to search for her. As they dig deeper into the dark history of their small town, all three friends must unearth the truths that tie their families to tragedy, cope with their own toxic upbringings and beliefs, and atone for the damage done to each other and themselves. Told in two interwoven timelines—the summer where everything changed, and the summer that changes everything—Where Secrets Lie is a seductive thriller as dark as it is enthralling.

"One of the best books I’ve read so far this summer, I was sucked in. The twists kept coming but didn’t feel gimmicky. Also cried more than a few times, related to many portions of MC’s relationship struggles from when I was 16 and the nostalgia hit like a ton of bricks. Not normally someone to ties my reads into real life, or gets emotional, so just further proves it’s a great book lol "

"i haven’t finished it. but. it’s been 3 days and my life has been hell but oh. my. god. i’m at least 25% done and that’s a lot for me as a slow reader and i’ve been annotating too. I feel so accomplished and i’m super into the story line. if it were a normal summer for me i’d wipe this out in 2 weeks TOPS. 10000/10 recommend but i’ll update my thoughts when i finish "
"The interwoven timeline was perfectly executed. It kept me on my toes the entire time, and I really enjoyed seeing the past and present tie everything together and answer all of my questions one by one. There were so many layers to this story: The incredibly ****** up family dynamics, the lifelong friendships, the passionate love affair, and Natasha’s heartbreaking disappearance. The characters were impossible not to connect with, to love (Amy, Teddy, Ben, Nat) and to hate (Mattie, Pete, June). I found myself immersed in their world, immersed in River Run, and desperate to see how it would all play out."
"i read it in one day- plot twist is seriously addictive "

"A dual perspective book including a possible murder mystery, that was surprisingly able to tie a romance subplot in incredibly well. The characters are vivid and throughout the book you get to know them extremely well, and all minor details become checkhov's guns, so all questions are answered. The author also includes trigger warnings at the beginning, which was very much appreciated."
