The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1: Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

"I went into this with very low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be really good. It satisfied my YA paranormal romance cravings"

"I really enjoyed this book, but it was really similar to Vampire Academy. Also, two events in this book were predictable, though I did enjoy how they were executed. I enjoyed Jennifer's writing and the characters. This book is 4.25 rating for me. I will definitely be continuing the series."
"Half Blood was a little slow getting into but once the book picked up it was an interesting and wild read at times.
This is a paranormal YA book that includes a greek retelling. The setup for this world was good, I liked that we have half-bloods, purebloods, demons, etc.

I really liked Alex she was a good character and wasn't too annoying but maybe I excused her a lot because she was going through a lot. I liked Aiden but I feel like he was a little too good and sometimes I need my mc to be a little villainous. I really had no idea that this was going to be a love triangle but I should have known because almost every YA book is.

Overall this was a good start to the series and it kept me interested enough to want to find out what happens in the rest of the series.

Rating: 4 stars"
"It's actually my favourite book series of all-time. I've read it a few times and I'm always so lost when I finish it because I get so invested in it. I highly recommend it. "
