"Actual: 3.5 stars ✨

While there’s a lot to like about this one, I felt that it was a bit insta-lovey and I didn’t feel that there was a real basis for the development and escalation of the relationship between Penelope and Gabriel. I felt like the physical attraction was more of a point of agreement than them being compatible in the long run

Also on a more sensitive subject, I honestly don’t know what to make of Penelope’s revelation about the sexual abuse and grooming she was subjected to when she was younger. I have honestly never read a romance novel deal with such a serious and emotionally heavy topic. Kudos to the author for trying to tackle it."

"This was such a cute book. I absolutely loved the heroine; such a sweet soul. I appreciate a historical romance that isn't all dub-con and ripped bodices. Don't get me wrong, I actually appreciate those in some of my romance, but historical romance is so over-saturated with those that this was really refreshing."
