"2.75 star. I have to get this first part out because I am so furious that I almost quit this book and the rest of the series. I have gotten use to the male dominance of this book. They author has much stated that the women save the men just as much even though they don't fight and are not all fragile. When Xhex showed up and got a big story line still her strength as a female was down played rarely any fight scenes. Then there was Payne I couldn't believe it two female fighters.

Some small spoilers ahead..............
........
............

So here is the sitch. Payne was mentioned in this book maybe twice and when I say mentioned that means they stated she was in the room. Xhex on the other hand got disgraced by the whole brotherhood and no one lifted a finger to help her. She wanted to track some enemies and all the brothers look to her mate for his approval. My jaw dropped. The past few books the vamps have been changing laws left and right for the brothers and as soon as a female walks in the gender inequality bar soared through the roof.

It was so down played to me like the only one at fault was John. NO! The king himself can out rule anyone and also the women in the room didn't speak up for their fellow female. I was so disgusted with how this was presented and how it was resolved in the end with no one but John taking accountability. So moving on with the rest of the story...... possibly.

Tohrment was an absolute jerk. I understand that he has went through a lot but he said some pretty unforgivable things to a.k.a. Autumn. Don't even get me started on that name which is not her original or even second one receiving. Their story had some great parts but ultimately fell flat. Autumn was so much more different than Willsie which was cute in a way even though as I'm sure others agree it was hard to see Willsie go.

I loved Autumns unexpected violence when she was with Tohrment and maybe explains why Xhex is so fierce. I also enjoyed her getting to know her daughter. It seemed right in a way even though I rarely enjoy stories where people come back from the dead and all their dreams come true.

Honestly I really like John but after what he did I got sick and tired of him faking being ok with whatever Xhex did after she left him. I was so disgusted with all of them that I'm really not sure they could have done anything to make it right even if they all bowed and groveled at Xhex's feet.

Of course the brothers are changing the way they do things and making exceptions for all the other men showing up on the doorstep I really doubt we will ever see equality in the future for the fairer sex.

Also of course I am still enjoying Quhinn and Blahs story. Even with Layla in the mix all seems right. I'm so happy that their story is next which I hope will be a saving grace to this series because if the glass ceiling presses down on these females the least bit more I believe I'll be done with this for good."
