The Creators did not expect their beloved dragons to sail skyward upon their end. To curl into balls just beyond gravity's grip, littering the sky with tombstones. With moons. They certainly did not expect them to fall. As a valued Elding Blade of the rebellion group Fíur du Ath, Raeve's job is to kill. To complete orders and never get caught. When a renowned bounty hunter is employed by The Crown to capture a member of the Ath, Raeve's world is turned upside down. Blood spills, hearts break, and Raeve finds herself at the mercy of the Guild of Nobles-a group of dual-beaded elementals who intend to turn her into a political statement. Only death will set her free. Crushed beneath a mourning weight, Kaan Vaegor took the head of a king and donned his melted crown. Now on a tireless quest to assuage the never-ebbing ache in his chest, his hunt for a moonshard lures him into the belly of Gore's notorious prison where he stumbles upon something that rips apart his perception of reality. A shackled miracle with eyes full of rage and blood on her hands. The echo of the past sings louder than the Creators themselves, and even Raeve can't ignore the truths blaring at her from a warmer, happier time. However. There's more to this song than meets the eye, and some truths ... They're too poisonous to swallow. When the Moon Hatched is a fast-paced fantasy romance for fans of witty banter and strong, sassy protagonists. Beneath the cover is an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.

"I am so grateful this book was very long, because I did NOT want it to end. I went between not being able to put it down, to putting it down (for a few minutes at a time) so it would last longer. It was a touch predicable at times, but I didn’t even care. I still loved the storyline and loved the characters. I felt Raeve’s emotions the entire time and loved Kaan. I am devastated that we have to wait until 2025 for the next book. Now I have to find something to get me out of this book hangover… suggestions are welcome. "
"I absolutely loved this book. It was beautifully written, with complex characters and intricate world building. Complete with dragons, politics, elemental magic, a stabby FMC and a MMC to swoon over. I recommend going into this slow, knowing you’re going to need to reference the glossary for a while until you understand the details of the world. I got so invested and cannot wait for the next one to come out. So many things yet to be revealed!"
"**SPOILERS**
I adored the first 300 pages, wonderful book, absolutely amazing couldnt have asked for more. Then there was this absolute bull about her having amnesia and personally thats a trope i almost cant stand because it turned what i thought was a wonderful character into something else or back into what she was before for people who her current self hates. Dialogue was great and the romance could have been great but I was just so disappointed by the amnesia. Like words cannot even describe the disappointment I felt. The world building was good though, superb world building."
"After suffering through Fourth Wing it was very difficult to trust another dragon book. I guess Romantasy in general has been mistrustful. The literal wordplay is romance comes first. That being said When the Moon Hatched took me by surprise. Not only was there a slow torturous burn but there was world-building and depth. I felt a history here.
The whole aesthetic was breathtaking. Dragons curling up in the sky petrifying into giant moons. SO GORGEOUS! This reminded me a little of Throne of Glass with the slow build-up into a huge world. Reave our protagonist was very well-rounded and complex. Strangly I enjoy when characters lose their memory because we get to experience firsts together. So there is this connection with Reave that makes the story relatable in a way.
The world was immersive and wonderfully gruesome at times. I love a bit of grit. I will say a few things were predictable but it did not diminish my enjoyment. And wow the angst. This story hurt me. The author included emotion and realism in the characters and I felt too much. Reave was a pleasure to watch. She has seen much cruelty and I did not blame her for trying to protect her heart. Reave also apologized when she knew she was in the wrong. To me that takes courage.
This book was rich and interesting. The elemental magic and dragons were also intriguing. I just flew through this story and can't wait to continue. My only complaint was the side characters were a little one-dimensional but I have that feeling we will see greater depth in book two."

This book was on & off for me. A disappointment, but entertaining. I absolutely adore TBACB, I had zero notes for any of the books. This is nowhere near as good.
The FMC in WTMH acts similar to Violet from Fourth Wing, and this is not a compliment. She is “sassy” (I use that word loosely) in the most obnoxious way, mixed in with the immaturity that Violet loves to cling to. Raeve flits back and forth between wanting to jump the MMC’s bones and murder him, which was about the first 40% of the book. Her only comeback is to tell males they have small dicks & that she bites. Wow. Such sass. She is emotionally stunted in a far different way than Orlaith was. Raeve has her badass moments, though.
Sarah A. Parker’s beautiful prose and use of literary devices were dumbed down so much in this book. We get peeks of it, but more often, modern words are used. The FMC’s voice is all Zillenial, like I’m reading a contemporary book (at one point, she asks “wanna tussle?”). The MMC does not speak anywhere close to this. I HATE when modern tone and lingo is mixed in with lovely writing in fantasy books. Stick to one type of “voice”, it ruins the immersion if it’s a mix between the two. I don’t mind either on their own, it’s just when they’re mixed. This wasn’t an issue in TBACB, not sure why Parker did that.
The world building is… confusing. There is a note that reading the glossary isn’t necessary, but it really is, making it only slightly less confusing. This could just be me, but I had a hard time following along. A sentence now & again describing what the term is would have been great (i.e. “We’re going to the capital of The Burn. Dhomm.”)
However, the overarching plot, twists, and story have hooked me. I have high hopes for the next book; I hope we see more Elluin than Raeve (yes, I know), because her diary entries were far more interesting than anything Raeve put me through. Kaan is perfect, he’s too good for rabid Raeve. "
"I haven’t been able to get this book out of my head ever since i finished it in June. This fantasy romance was so well written and poetic, set in the most beautiful, creatively thought out world I have ever read. The characters were interesting and mysterious with emotions so heavy and realistic I could feel their pain. I literally cannot stop thinking about it. The romantic twist was unexpected, and wholly different from what I have read in the past. I am beyond excited for the next books in the series and to immerse myself in that world again! Side note: any book with dragons automatically wins me over, but WTMH had the most unique details that felt so incredibly amazing. "
