Brené Brown
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In Atlas of the Heart, Brené Brown writes, “If we want to find the way back to ourselves and one another, we need language and the grounded confidence to both tell our stories and be stewards of the stories that we hear. This is the framework for meaningful connection.”Don’t miss the five-part Max docuseries Brené Brown: Atlas of the Heart! In Atlas of the Heart, Brown takes us on a journey through eighty-seven of the emotions and experiences that define what it means to be human. As she maps the necessary skills and an actionable framework for meaningful connection, she gives us the language and tools to access a universe of new choices and second chances—a universe where we can share and steward the stories of our bravest and most heartbreaking moments with one another in a way that builds connection. Over the past two decades, Brown’s extensive research into the experiences that make us who we are has shaped the cultural conversation and helped define what it means to be courageous with our lives. Atlas of the Heart draws on this research, as well as on Brown’s singular skills as a storyteller, to show us how accurately naming an experience doesn’t give the experience more power—it gives us the power of understanding, meaning, and choice. Brown shares, “I want this book to be an atlas for all of us, because I believe that, with an adventurous heart and the right maps, we can travel anywhere and never fear losing ourselves.”

"4.5 ⭐️ At first this felt like it was just a book of definitions but as I moved through it, I realized it is so much more. While I was reading it, I could tell, it was helping me work through some of my own stuff. Being able to accurately articulate how you’re feeling is so important to our connection with people. Grateful for Brene’s work and research on human emotions. It’s always very insightful and thought provoking."
"Really helpful and would recommend everyone to read. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is that I’ve enjoyed other of Brown’s books more, but I am coming to see how this is such a useful book and being able to come back and reference it to use when I’m struggling to articulate feelings is very powerful."
"I don’t understand the hype about this book. There is nothing in here that I’d say I learnt something new. Sorry this seemed as a way to make money"

"Daring Greatly was one of the first books that got me back into reading and her latest book is much more similar to that one than Dare to Lead. This book just felt more in line with Brene’s original works and I really enjoyed. She explains the impact on language for emotions while helping to define them as she goes. It’s a fun, easy read and there are dozens of short passages worth writing down. "
"This is an anthology, a textbook to a course. Not a light read. I feel that I’ll need to reread it at least three more times before I grasp everything there is to learn, and that will be just the beginning."

"I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed hearing her read her own words, then I bought the hard copy. "

"This book was absolutely fascinating. I loved how every emotion was categorized and then broken down. Throughout the book, I was able to understand which emotions I'd been correctly describing, which ones I needed to adjust my perspective on, and which I gained a deeper understanding of. I loved that now I can better understand exactly what I'm feeling. I also appreciated how Brene Brown explains her research methods and why she has taken those specific approaches.

One note about the audiobook - Brene Brown does stop and add side notes several times throughout. This bothered me because it started to feel more like a podcast about the book than an audiobook. It also bothered me because then I started to question what was the book and what was her commentary. I like to know that, if there's a line I like and want to find it again later, I can go find a physical copy of the book and find the line."
