"This is one of my all time favorite book series. There are so many important morals that can be learned, especially for younger kids. One of the impressive things about this series is how it appeals to such a wide age range. I like how the author plays with the timeline between books and is able to connect them all like puzzle pieces. "
"This backtracked to the first book and took a while to figure out where the story was going. I honestly felt like this book of the quartet wasn’t 100% imperative to the original story line. I think the first three books could have held up on their own. Lowry does a good job with the story as normal but not necessarily needed. "
"I'm glad this had a good ending but man that was a rough book to get through. also let's not ignore that fact that the original dystopian society was impregnating or at least designating 12 year olds to give birth?? like Claire was 14 when she gave birth and that's so immensely messed up. I read the first book of this series in elementary school! if I had continued on and read this book at 12?? in the back of my copy there was classroom discussion topics too! absolutely horrible I would not want a child to read this."
"I’m just now reading this series as an adult but loved it! I love Lois Lowery and this book was the perfect conclusion. "

"More enjoyable than the last two books, but still not as interesting as the first.
This book was a well-rounded conclusion to [b:The Giver Quartet|17234575|The Giver Quartet|Lois Lowry|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1367018855l/17234575._SX50_.jpg|23752472] that allowed readers to see how all of the main characters we were introduced to throughout ended up. The book also introduces a new character, Claire, that adds depth to both the Community we were introduced to in [b:The Giver|3636|The Giver (The Giver, #1)|Lois Lowry|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1342493368l/3636._SY75_.jpg|2543234] and to the world Lowry created at large. All that Claire had to go through in her short life was devastating and disturbing to read about, especially learning more about the job of Birthmother from the eyes of a 14-year-old that is forced to give birth to a child with no understanding what is happening to her.
It was good to see more of Jonas within this novel, as well as seeing Gabe grown up from the baby he was in The Giver and the young child he was in The Messenger."
