Payback is paradise in this start to a trilogy from New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (soon to be a major motion picture!), Jenny Han, and New York Times bestselling author of The List, Siobhan Vivian.Postcard-perfect Jar Island is home to charming tourist shops, pristine beaches, amazing oceanfront homes—and three girls secretly plotting revenge. KAT is sick and tired of being bullied by her former best friend. LILLIA has always looked out for her little sister, so when she discovers that one of her guy friends has been secretly hooking up with her, she’s going to put a stop to it. MARY is perpetually haunted by a traumatic event from years past, and the boy who’s responsible has yet to get what’s coming to him. None of the girls can act on their revenge fantasies alone without being suspected. But together…anything is possible. With an alliance in place, there will be no more “I wish I’d said…” or “If I could go back and do things differently...” These girls will show Jar Island that revenge is a dish best enjoyed together.

"*WARNING THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS* This is still good after all these years lol. I was a little fuzzy on the exact details of the story but I did remember some things. What I don't like though is the fact that the was a lot of miscommunication between the friends and honestly it could have solved or cleared things up sooner. But maybe that was the point? For her to feel guilty and stuff, I don't know but it bothered me. I did feel bad for Mary, she had it tough but she did let it go on and on, the whole "magical" element was a surprise to me because I obviously didn't remember that and now I'm thinking she's like Carrie or something lol. That fact that Lillia had 2 guys pinning after her(well one of them didn't make is so obvious but that's beside the point) and she just sitting there like "Eww, no thank you". I do remember the homecoming scenes and it still felt crazy. Also there should be trigger warnings for the off-page rape that happened, drug use and other things. It makes me extremely dislike Reene even more for letting it happen to her supposed "best friend". Overall, I still love it and now I can finally read the rest of the series!"
"they are the best books I’ve read so far. "

"I was excited for this book bc I thought it would be a fun, "feminist", revenge story. Instead, I got so much frustration. So. Much. Frustration. And that ending had me so mad, like, surprise, Mary was actually dead/a ghost this whole time!??!? (I wiki'd the rest of the plot bc I honestly did not want to read the rest of the series) I was so mad to find out that the end is just like, "oh, Mary is a ghost with powers, and she wants revenge!” But jk, she somehow still likes Reeve?!!??!??! This book was such a disappointment to me, was expecting a contemporary fiction, slight romance, lots of revenge, but instead got a paranormal bully romance?????"
"This book started out slow for me, but once it picked up I loved it and couldn't put it down! I can't wait to read the rest of the series"
