"Very cool ending to the series. My overall opinion of this book and the series as a whole is that a lot of things are just too drawn out. The battles are just too detailed for me. Some people would probably love that and feel like it makes it action-packed but it has the opposite effect for me. "
"Hmm. I’m not sure. In Hero of Ages I enjoyed when Elend Venture talks to the coloss, in reference to where their women come from. It reminds me of that part of Hellfire Peninsula with the collosus, over on the western end, right? I also liked the Well of Ascension, when the spectre simply “points”. It is just vivid in my imagination."
"The books in this series grew increasingly plot driven and Hero of Ages was the greatest culprit. It became very evident that the story being told was not as important as the story the author really wanted to tell. The characters -
and eventually the narrative details themselves - were incrementally reduced to foils in service of the author's imperative an epic that, unfortunately, started to lose its import in the sacrifice.

Still, Sanderson's writing makes it a worthwhile read despite the sometimes frustrating or inconsistent character development. There are a few shining spots; indeed, some character struggles were beautifully depicted.

In conclusion, I think it safe to say that rough work by Sanderson arguably outshines the polished renderings of other authors. The final pages are as fulfilling as their predecessors were perturbing.

3.8 stars"
