"I didn’t think the perfect book existed, till I picked up Mistborn! Everything from the plot to the pacing was impeccable . I applaud Sanderson"

"This is, quite honestly, one of the best fantasy novels I have *ever* read. I have an uncanny ability to predict events in books/movies, and even though I foresaw many of the events later in this book, it was so well written that it didn't make the ending any less satisfying, and there were things that I wasn't able to predict."
"I don't think I have ever taken this long to read a book before! Almost two months to finish! I thought it was really interesting but it dragged on and on!"

"Loved, loved, loved this book!!!

Such amazing imagery, amazing character building, amazing plot.

A story of class, wealth, of haves and have-nots, interweaved with magic abilities and throw in a revolution or two. Some aspects of cinderella, some love story, and you basically have the plot. *grins*

This book had me hooked in the same way as the Harry Potter series did when it originally came out. I ordered the second in the series a couple of days before I was finished so that I will be able to continue the series. I couldn't wait every night to read what happened to Vin and Kelsier as they worked with their band of merry characters to battle the evil Lord Ruler.

PS. As a lover of architecture particularly churches I enjoyed the descriptions of the nobles keeps (homes) and their individual designs."

"I enjoyed this but it kind of felt like a whole trilogy of books stuffed into one which I actually mostly liked except for the fact that the book felt much longer than it actually was.
Also what was going on with the format? a chapter would end on one page and another would start on the same page? idk
I liked the plotline but I would almost say the Stormlight magic system makes more sense than this one does, but maybe that’s because the Stormlight books had a little more buildup/explanation of the system than this did. I understood how it worked about halfway through but I don’t understand what “burning” is yet, like… are they literally burning the metals or is it metaphorical?
RIP Kelsier he was my favorite (I am so upset cmon Sanderson) and I get WHY he died but I just didn’t like it

CWs: gore, blood, slavery, child death, death, r*pe, sexual assault"
"i’m so glad i’m finally on the sanderson train. this book was definitely different than tress, but i loved it. it reminds me of the fantasy books i read when i was younger - as i’m reading it i could just tell that i was reading a book that i loved and that would stay with me for a long time (something i never take for granted!)so excited for the next book"
"A recommendation from my son which turned out to be a fun read. In the complex and seemingly dying world of The Final Empire, where ash always falls from sky and the ground is covered by mist and brown vegetation, Skaa are subjugated and enslaved by the noblemen, under the rule of the menacing Lore Ruler. Rebellion ensues involving battles between those with various powers imparted by their amity to burn metals. The journey of the reluctant hero is taken by our protagonist, Vin. As she joins up with a thieving crew set on overthrowing the tyranny of the Final Empire, she discovers the strength of her powers and the secrets around her. "There's always another secret....""

"This book has so many emotions for me. It’s the first Sanderson book I ever read and rereading it now after all the cosmere books that have come out since this was released, the presence of this one feels so much more...weighty.

I know some don’t think the romance between Elend and Vin is strong, but to me it’s one of the most..endearing. Maybe I’m a sucker for anyone who likes books as much as Elend and wants to honestly be more than what he is. Maybe I’m a sucker for a girl who’s as broken as Vin finally getting something good in her life. Maybe my mind will change when I continue with rereading the next books. For now, I love it.

Also Kelsier. Again, I know there are some who don’t like his character and find him...self absorbed and perhaps ruthless with some things. But seeing him with Vin and the rest of his crew. I have hope. He is hope.

I’m going to go cry myself to sleep over the endless secrets within secrets that I know are still to come, even 15 years after it’s publication."
