"This movie gets 1 star because the only thing I liked about it was the fight scenes and the guns. It's your typical Jason Statham movie where he is an angry lonely badass who reluctantly kicks some ass. It's completely unrealistic (I wasn't really expecting it to be realistic) but what annoys me is that the movie isn't very fun either. The bad guys are stereotypical cliche Russians, but they're hilariously not scary and so incompetent that i honestly wanted them to do be successful in something so I could care about the plot more. Basically, this movie gets you to watch because it implies the victim is being SA'd (which is dark and serious) but it takes itself so unseriously that it feels like a comedy. They talk about emojis, and the grandpa does yoga in tight yoga pants and at one point Statham hides behind a tree while sitting in his massive Dodge Ram pickup. You can't make this stuff up. Who wrote this."
"A Working Man, the newest Jason Statham movie, is aiming for something along the lines of John Wick meets Taken, but never quite hits the mark. It was good to see Jason Statham beat people up. I thought the guy with the big gun and the long, shiny coat would have had more of a chance. Finally, it was good to see Michael Peña and David Harbour too."

Levon is an ex-military commando now working as a construction Forman. He keeps to himself, but everyone seems to like him including the owners of the business who he builds a bond with. He also has a young daughter that he is trying to get custody of from his now deceased wife's her father. The owner's daughter goes out to party and is kidnapped. He decides to help track her down. However, the investigation leads him to a big-time crime organization. The clues take him deeper and deeper into the crime organization's business. In order to find her he may need to infiltrate this organization and destroy their business. Jason Stahaom has been playing this same character for years, so this is right in his sweet spot. He is always engaging and handles the action well. This time there was a bit more to it than just fisticuffs and shoot outs. We do get to see his investigation skills and some undercover work. The story is one you have seen a million times with no wrinkles or deviation. It's a fun action movie but he might want to expand his next role and make it a little deeper to keep things fresh. This is basically the same as The Beekeeper which I I think was a better movie. Worth a watch for action fans but the formula is getting a little stale. "As a longtime Statham fan, I’m sad to report that I was underwhelmed by this one. It’s not a bad movie but it is VERY sincere and it doesn’t have the weight to pull that tone off. I knew it might be in trouble when Sly Stallone was credited as a co-writer. It has all of his hallmarks. It’s melodramatic, self-serious, has flat dialogue and paper thin villains. The film spends a lot of time with Statham investigating but does absolutely nothing interesting with it. I think they were going for a tone between The Equalizer movies and Reacher but fell well short of both.
It’s not all negative. Statham knows what he’s doing and he breathes more life into this character than it deserves. There are a couple of good action sequences in it and David Harbour has an interesting small supporting part.
There is a character introduced early on that seems to only exist to be a vulnerability for Statham’s character. The film does nothing with that, as if they’re saving it for the sequel. I don’t think that sequel is coming.

"This was terrible. Only the 2nd movie in my 55 yrs I considered walking out of before it finished. The story was all over the place. No cohesive plot and too many antagonist. Jason tried to keep it together but he just couldn’t do it. This felt like it was patched together quickly off the heels of The Beekeeper. Should have stayed in the can. I do not recommend. "
"Ngl pretty boring. The action was well choreographed but the plot left a lot to be desired. "
