"It's hard to know where to start with Ozu. Or I guess you start with Tokyo Story but it's hard to know where to go after that. I went to Equinox Flower basically exclusively because of my 1958 movie deficit.
Equinox Flower is an incredibly slow film at the beginning. By comparison, it makes Tokyo Story look positively speedy but once it gets into its heart which is the father's disapproval of the daughter's proposed marriage it heats up a bit.
The entire film is about marriage through many different lenses. Ozu's films feel timeless in the way that relationships between people are portrayed."
