"A 1975 film by Robert Altman (M*A*S*H), depicting a bunch of singers during the 1976 election year, it doesn’t seem to have aged well, though it is a frighteningly modern and accurate premise. This came out when I was 1 1/2, but I finally watched it at 50 1/2. This might have been better, with a more interesting script, featuring more than just tidbits of dialogue/storytelling sprinkled throughout a three-hour concert of the various actors performing their own songs. A great ensemble cast, sadly, underutilized. The music is excellent, though. I won’t give away the final act…but I will say that it is crazy how life imitates art."
