"As a lifelong fan of the Beastie Boys, I was excited to watch this documentary. It's labeled as a documentary, but it's more of an on stage guided tour of their long and illustrious career by the two surviving members, Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz (Mike D and Ad Rock). I thought that I knew about their humble beginnings as a punk rock band , but there is so much more that I didn't know. And Mike and Adam do an excellent job telling their story, giving the viewers the feeling of friends telling stories about the good ole days. It's personal, funny, and heart felt, all at the same time. The Beastie Boys started as a goof, just friends having fun, but their fearless attitude, and unapologetic drive transformed them into the innovative, and highly influential icons of my generation. Always evolving, they reinvented themselves multiple times over the years without ever losing their quirky sense of fun that made them special. They give credit to Adam Yauch (MCA) as being the talented, driving force behind their success and a touching tribute to his life is sprinkled throughout this presentation. They also give props to all the talented people who helped and collaborated with them over the years. Tons of behind the scenes footage and great storytelling made this an awesome watch for me. So if you're a fan of the Beasties, as I am, I recommend watching this one all the way through the credits, because there's a bunch of extra stuff added til the very last second. I loved it. 10/10"
"I love the Beastie Boys and highly recommend this documentary romp. Set to their music, Ad-Rock and Mike D present a true insiders look into their career and friendship. Such an endearing story of a trio who set out to form their unique sounds and beats. The heartfelt anecdotes and tributes to Adam Yauch reveal the depth of their friendship rooted in the music they made. "
