"This is a simple yet eerie and almost too serene thriller with a perfect amount of suspense. John Carpenter directs the very slow burning story of people in a small town held captive by a 100 year old secret. The movie stars Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Janet Leigh. I was captivated by the use of light and shadow to create a sense of terror and fear. I always like movies that use the emotions of people to drive each scene instead of blood and gore. "
"John carpenter strikes again with another impressive ghostly story and movie score. Not as good as Halloween but it still hangs in there for a Halloween scare."

"This is the first John Carpenter movie I’ve been disappointed by. It’s a ghost story without scares or atmosphere. The characters are bland and uninteresting, so I didn’t care what happened to them. It does have a good Carpenter score, I just wish it had accompanied a better movie. 2.5 out of 5 stars."

"I like it still but it hasn’t aged well (6.25/10)"
