Girl in the Basement

"This was originally a movie made for the Lifetime Network. So it seems a little watered down compared to the true story. While the film changes names, locations and doesn't strictly follow the exact events that occurred in real life, it is tragically based on a true story. In the film, Sara is a stand-in for Elisabeth Fritzl, an Austrian girl who was imprisoned by her father Josef in the basement of her family home. She was kept there for 24 years, during which time she was repeatedly raped and abused and gave birth to seven children. I felt the movie seems rushed and could have been a much grittier film that would have evoked even more emotions from the viewer. The acting was solid though. 5/10"

"I feel like if you're going to make a movie based on a true story and actual events that happened you should do it justice by being as accurate as possible. You shouldn't sugar coat and water the story down for the viewers. As many others in the comment sections has said this happened in austria and he would drug her as well. She had I believe 7 children by her father. Didnt like how they changed the location either. This story was sickening. But the father and daughter were by far the most talented in this movie. Devastating truth."

I didn't even know lifetime movie network still existed chose to put this one on maybe made it 10 minutes but the acting was just so awful I could not keep my attention on the screen.
