Lillian and Marcus are the most delicious enemies to lovers that I’ve read since Nesta and Cassian. I adored their chemistry, and I especially love Lillian’s brash, unapologetic character. Her flaws are relatable too - making her one of my most favorite FMC’s. She challenges Westcliff in all the right ways, reminding me a little of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. Westcliff had the same pompous views that he abandoned for his love, and I couldn’t have asked for more in their love story!
I will say that the story dragged on and off at times, especially towards the end of the book (right before the big twist). Now, that could have just been me itching to get more Lillian and Westcliff page time, but I stand by that statement. Additionally, these proper men of society need to learn about CONSENT! Making out with someone when she’s pushing you away and disagreeing isn’t cute. Again, I’m semi-letting it slide due to the age of the book, but I didn’t like some of the initial romance. The love potion thing was rather dumb too.
However, the increase in romance and spice was AMAZING. Westcliff is otherwise so beautifully enamored with Lillian, and I love how protective and supportive he is of her as their relationship grows. Lillian’s feelings for Westcliff were additionally so romantic and cute, it was so satisfying hearing them confess their love and attraction for one another.
With that said… why the HELL am I going to read a book about St. Vincent after what went down in this book?! Man should be on a government list somewhere, not anywhere near Evie. Here we go…"
"3 down, 1 to go !<br/><br/>This is definitely my favourite from the 3 that I have read so far from this series. I really liked and felt for Lillian throughout this story and her predicament (having pressure to catch a title, but not wanting one and knowing that the only reason someone would marry her is because of her money as a “dollar heiress”). The sexual tension between Lillian and Marcus was palpable from beginning to end, although it was a bit of an exaggeration to suggest that Marcus was the Victorian version of Christian Grey. The sex scenes were pretty vanilla, not saying that’s a bad thing, just not what some of the characters were gossiping about. <br/><br/>The only reason why I haven’t been able to give this and other Lisa Kleypas books more than a 4 stars is because there is always a completely bonkers and implausible plot point thrown in at the 11th hour. I already was spoiled by reading “Devil in Winter” before I read this, but I still think it wasn’t well planned or thought out.<br/><br/>I am looking forward to the final book, a good “arranged marriage” is just what I need, especially when Daisy, a very bookish heroine is involved.<br/><br/>"

"Loved Lillian’s character. Wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about up tight Marcus, but Kleypas does a wonderful job of showing all sides of his character and I absolutely love Lillian & Marcus together! "

"My absolute favorite addition in the wall flower series. I reread the series frequently but this one. The enemy to lovers trope is soooooo freaking goood in this one. The characters gawd. They were very well done. I did take issue with how Lisa kleypas showed Lillians talent yet nothing came of it. "
