They were especially close with Tom’s best friend, Sam, who always made sure that Tom and Cassie were surrounded with love. But, twenty years later, Cassie has lost Tom as well. And in a way, she’s also lost Sam; over the years they’d drifted apart, and now the man she always had a crush on is someone she doesn’t even recognize anymore. She’s never felt more alone. Then Cassie finds an envelope with her name on it, written in Tom’s terrible handwriting, and she knows immediately what it is. Or what if she does figure them all out and her last connection to Tom is gone?Tom’s present sets Cassie on a heart-wrenching and beautiful journey that will change her life—if she lets it. And as she travels from London to the Welsh mountains to the French countryside, she reconnects with old friends, rekindles a lost love, and, most important, rediscovers herself. But once she’s solved the final clue, will she be brave enough to accept the gift her brother has given her—and the love it’s led her to?

"Yes, indeed, this isn't as good as Always in December. Still, it was a light solid read. Sad but hopeful. Unfortunately, it was very easy to guess the ending. This was a bit of friends to lovers to enemies to lovers. My favorite part was the scavenger hunt. I think it really propelled the story and brought in all sorts of characters which was fun.
My biggest problem:
I am just confused by how no one is talking about how toxic Sam was. Not overly so but to the point where I'm wondering why he was a love interest at all. I mean he jerks Cassie around so much I don't think Cassie's brother would want them to be together. And I don't much care for Sam's reasoning.
Also, I'm still complaining, These people were too forgiving. Cassie with Sam. Sam with his dad. End of complaining.
Ugh still, the last two hours my face was glowing. It was an adventure and sweet but too constrained for my liking."
"<br/><br/>I didn’t hate it and I don’t love it. It was all right. Defining the boss is a short story that you can read under an hour. <br/><br/> Because of how short the book is, is maybe why I didn’t feel connected to the characters. And it’s just was one huge leap for Kane. Overall it’s a cute short read."

"<strong>A sweet Christmas novella</strong><br/><br/>This was a cute sweet Christmas book. Apen loves Kane and it takes her almost leaving to make him really admit he loves her. Gives you a romantic HEA."

"Nice story, reminded me a bit of P.S., I Love You by Cecilia Ahern, just a different twist. <br/><br/>I loved her first book and look forward to what she writes next."
