WATCH WILL TRENT ON ABC! “If you’re into mystery thrillers, then you’re into Karin Slaughter.” —THESKIMMHe watches. He waits. He takes. Who will be next . . .THE SILENT WIFEInvestigating the killing of a prisoner during a riot inside a state penitentiary, GBI investigator Will Trent is confronted with disturbing information. One of the inmates claims that he is innocent of a brutal attack for which he has always been the prime suspect. The man insists that he was framed by a corrupt law enforcement team led by Jeffrey Tolliver and that the real culprit is still out there—a serial killer who has systematically been preying on women across the state for years. If Will reopens the investigation and implicates the dead police officer with a hero’s reputation of wrongdoing, the opportunistic convict is willing to provide the information GBI needs about the riot murder.Only days ago, another young woman was viciously murdered in a state park in northern Georgia. Is it a fluke, or could there be a serial killer on the loose? As Will Trent digs into both crimes it becomes clear that he must solve the cold case in order to find the answer. Yet nearly a decade has passed—time for memories to fade, witnesses to vanish, evidence to disappear, and lies to become truth. But Will can’t crack either mystery without the help of the one person he doesn’t want involved: his girlfriend and Jeffrey Tolliver’s widow, medical examiner Sara Linton. When the past and present begin to collide, Will realizes that everything he values is at stake . . .

"Karin Slaughter is phenomenal!! Her 20th book and I believe this to be the most tormenting book she has written. Is was simply amazing.

This book is in her series about Will Trent; however, this book bridges so many gaps from the Grant County series that anyone could pick it up and be in love with it. For those fans of her Grant County Series that didn’t choose to follow Will Trent (why?), this is a DO NOT MISS book for you!

Talk about a blast from the past as the Will Trent investigates a possible serial killer that began back when the infamous Jeffery from Grant County started the initial investigation and thought he had captured the right person. The evidence has begun to show that similar patterns have appeared and maybe the wrong guy was locked up and the real killer is walking free. Sara’s duties as the coroner has never been so important than now, if they will be able to figure out who is bringing these women harm.
Look out for an explosive ending that you will NEVER see coming!!!

Thank you so much to @williammorrow and @karinslaughterauthor for providing me with this ARC copy of The Silent Wife in return of my honest review!"
"The one that started it all for me! When I saw everyone recommending this book, I knew I had to read it. Actually, I decided I needed to experience it from the beginning, and not just from Will Trent but all the way back to Grant County, so I started with 'Blindsighted' and made my way through the series just to get to this book and I am so glad that I did. Getting to read more about Grant County, Lena Adams, Jefferey Tolliver and his past relationship with Sara was a really fun part of this book for me.

If you love deeply disturbed serial killers, stalkers, and racing through the pages to find out who was behind it all, you will love this book and anything else by Karin Slaughter.

What I will say about this book without giving too much away is that it was quickly predictable for me and there were tons of hints scattered throughout to confirm my suspicion after. However, this never took away from my reading experience at all. There were still plenty of other plot twists and I loved trying to fill in all the other holes and questions I had.

"
"I was very excited to read this book as I love Will Trent and the rest of the GBI gang but this one left me a little flat. I figured it out very early. Let me just say I always THINK I have figured these books out, but usually there is a twist that I didn’t see coming. This time I kept waiting for the twist but it never came.

Also, I’m kind of over the PERFECT Sara Linton. Maybe it’s jealousy."

"I loved the story, as I love all of her books, but the storyline inconsistencies drove me crazy.

Mostly, the inconsistencies about Will’s mother, because as of three books ago, he thought his mother was a brilliant student, and now he knows she was a prostitute? He got all this inherited jewelry we’ve never heard of, as well as the palm reading poster, compared with the original gift of Amanda and Evelyn’s feminism and statistics textbooks.

Another thing that really got under my skin was that it was clear from the first or second interaction with Brock in this book that he was the killer. It just seemed abundantly clear this time that all the description and time with his character was setting something up, versus adding necessary background detail to the story.

Anyway, still loved the story, absolutely love her books, and Gina (narrated by Kathleen Early) caused me to snort with laughter more than once."
