With humor and insight, #1 New York Times bestseller Becky Albertalli explores the nuances of sexuality, identity, and friendship in this timely new novel.Imogen Scott may be hopelessly heterosexual, but she's got the World's Greatest Ally title locked down. She's never missed a Pride Alliance meeting. She knows more about queer media discourse than her very queer little sister. She even has two queer best friends. There's Gretchen, a fellow high school senior, who helps keep Imogen's biases in check. And then there's Lili--newly out and newly thriving with a cool new squad of queer college friends.Imogen's thrilled for Lili. Any ally would be. And now that she's finally visiting Lili on campus, she's bringing her ally A game. Any support Lili needs, Imogen's all in.Even if that means bending the truth, just a little.Like when Lili drops a tiny queer bombshell: she's told all her college friends that Imogen and Lili used to date. And none of them know that Imogen is a raging hetero--not even Lili's best friend, Tessa.Of course, the more time Imogen spends with chaotic, freckle-faced Tessa, the more she starts to wonder if her truth was ever all that straight to begin with. . .

"3.7 stars. I adored Imogen. It was interesting to hear the perspective of an ally in a pride group and the inner thoughts of a questioning queer. It was insightful to listen to a queer bully like Gretchen bully other queers and question their queerness. There are a lot of texts between characters in this book that might be easier to follow in a written book than listen to in the audiobook. I would have liked to have gotten to know more of the stories of the friends and what their journeys were like. "
"adorable, love, great. book that features bi-awakening and the reality of biphobia"

"A lovely story about coming out and self-discovery. This book is fun and uplifting while also super relatable and realistic to those who went through similar experiences as Imogen. It also acknowledges other real-life issues surrounding queer people, such as media discourse. Imogen and Tessa are such an adorable couple, and there is plenty of LGBTQ+ representation for other parts of the spectrum. And I enjoyed the references to other pieces of queer media. There weren’t any issues with the story of characters, I guess it just didn’t click enough with me to be a full five star read. This is a relatable, passionate, and sweet story that perfectly relates to similar experiences of queer people figuring out their sexuality."
"I feel like the author doesn't really know what young people, especially those in the lgbt+ community, are actually like and some times it can be a little obnoxious how much they try to lean into "liberalism" when nobody (at least none i've met) say "i'm a jewish lesbian middle child with adhd" to a girl they like out of nowhere 💀 I think they try to make a point about queerness, but it just goes so off topic and gets so convoluted you have no idea what's going on. that aside, it is a good read if you can get through all that other stuff. Imogen finding her identity and coming to terms with it is so fun to follow, and watching her realize she doesn't have to be what everyone expects is empowering, in a way. "
"i love love LOVE this book!!! i had really low expectations, since i feel like im past the point in my life where coming out is a big deal, HOWEVER it was sooooo good. i loved every bit of it, it wasn’t too intense and it wasn’t too childish. it was perfect! i highly highly recommend even if coming out stories aren’t really your thing"
"This is a super quick read. Cute. Queer. Hits on a lot of modern discourse in and surrounding the community. Unfortunately, this was not the book for me. I think a lot of queer and questioning folks could benefit and enjoy reading this. Unfortunately, I found this story bogged down in mundane details that didn't move the story forward, with a cast of mostly forgettable characters. A lot felt like it was packed into the final act without a good enough payoff. The pink cover is so cute, though!"
