"This film is a different twist on the immortality of vampires. It asks the question: Are you living, or are you just alive? What do you do with immortality? Miriam gives her lovers this unquenchable hunger, but what if they decide not to give into it? This is a surreal film with David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve, and Susan Sarrandon."
"Vampirism as a metaphor for a toxic partner is not what I was expecting out of this film, but that's what I derived from it.
While this film is labeled as R here on Likewise, the version I watched on Revry was labeled TV-14, which may explain the occasional strange editing. There was a particular cut at the beginning of the film that felt confusing and unprofessional, so I'm curious as to who's fault that was.
The bisexuality on display is, imo, pretty impressive for 1983. We got *multiple* (!!!) f/f kisses! And an implied sex scene!"
