Her A League of Extraordinary Women series is extraordinary.”—Julia Quinn, #1 New York Times bestselling author“This series balances friendship, politics, history, and romance in just the right mix.”—U.S. Representative Katie PorterGoing toe-to-toe with a brooding Scotsman is rather bold for a respectable suffragist, but when he happens to be one's unexpected husband, what else is an unwilling bride to do? London banking heiress Hattie Greenfield wanted just three things in life:1. Acclaim as an artist. 2. A noble cause.3. Marriage to a young lord who puts the gentle in gentleman. Why then does this Oxford scholar find herself at the altar with the darkly attractive financier Lucian Blackstone, whose murky past and ruthless business practices strike fear in the hearts of Britain's peerage? Trust Hattie to take an invigorating little adventure too far. Now she's stuck with a churlish Scot who just might be the end of her ambitions....When the daughter of his business rival all but falls into his lap, Lucian sees opportunity. As a self-made man, he has vast wealth but holds little power, and Hattie might be the key to finally setting long-harbored political plans in motion. Driven by an old desire for revenge, he has no room for his new wife's apprehensions or romantic notions, bewitching as he finds her.But a sudden journey to Scotland paints everything in a different light. Hattie slowly sees the real Lucian and realizes she could win everything--as long as she is prepared to lose her heart.

"I liked it as well as Evies first two books but I did have some problems that the conflict between fmc &mmc was the same every time, multiple times (she would misunderstand something, get mad, realize she was mistaken, and he would forgive her too fast) But overall I enjoyed the read and it was nice and aight but I liked her first two better "
"I’m having a hard time determining whether this or the first book in the series “Bringing Down the Duke” would be ranked second after “A Rogue of One’s Own”. I guess it will come down to the final book with this group of Oxford suffragists. Regardless, I really enjoyed my time with this instalment. I am just a complete sucker for the Persephone and Hades trope, especially in a historical romance. I also love Scotland as a setting, I don’t know what it is"
"It was a fun read once I got about half way through. But the ending seems a bit far fetched. As a history major, they gave her far too many liberties that a female of the 1880s would never have been given. So take it at face value as an enemies to lover story that takes places in the UK that is mildly amusing."

"Of course I knew better than to pick up Dunmore's new book, knowing that I wouldn't be able to put it down until I finished. My poor husband reminded me I should make the most of a beautiful day and as I looked at him all I could think is that I was. I love that the characters have sustenance with a backstory that is meaningful and raw. The romance is great but it's not what the book is about. And it's wonderful to see the characters grow as the story unfolds as they learn who they truly are and what they desire. I love reading Dunmore's books. Thanks for a great read."
