YOUNG XING XING IS BOUND. Bound to her father's second wife and daughter after Xing Xing's father has passed away. Bound to a life of servitude as a young girl in ancient China, where the life of a woman is valued less than that of livestock. Bound to be alone and unmarried, with no parents to arrange for a suitable husband. Dubbed "Lazy One" by her stepmother, Xing Xing spends her days taking care of her half sister, Wei Ping, who cannot walk because of her foot bindings, the painful but compulsory tradition for girls who are fit to be married. Even so, Xing Xing is content, for now, to practice her gift for poetry and calligraphy, to tend to the mysterious but beautiful carp in her garden, and to dream of a life unbound by the laws of family and society. But all of this is about to change as the time for the village's annual festival draws near, and Stepmother, who has spent nearly all of the family's money, grows desperate to find a husband for Wei Ping. Xing Xing soon realizes that this greed and desperation may threaten not only her memories of the past, but also her dreams for the future. In this searing story, Donna Jo Napoli, acclaimed author of Beast and Breath, delves into the roots of the Cinderella myth and unearths a tale as powerful as it is familiar.

"Would you consider the audio edition of Bound to be better than the print version?<br/>I've never read the print version and it all depends on the person which is better. I am one of those people that is happy with both, but it would be a good read which ever way you want to read it.<br/><br/>What was one of the most memorable moments of Bound?<br/>One of the biggest moments in my mind is one of the biggest giveaways about the book so I won't say it i'll just say you need to remember the great hall and leave it at that.<br/><br/>Which scene was your favorite?<br/>I loved all the bantering between the different characters. I don't have any one favorite moment I just prefer the moments that make me smile<br/><br/>Any additional comments?<br/>This is an awesome story from happy to sad and exciting to shocking. The entire time I was listening I could barely do anything else. I loved every moment of the story and at times it was hard to remember that it is supposed to be a historical romance instead of a modern day one. If you read this story and don't fall in love with it you don't know a good book when you find one."
"From the blurb about the book, the story was not what I was expecting. It was ok. <br/><br/>I want to say - SHOW, not tell. How did she got into the gang - show me what research she did to find out that cop was dirty. Show me how Martinez found out that she was the one. <br/><br/>What happened with her parents? It seemed like they were headed for a divorce. What happened to Sam? The father's girlfriend. Did I read one of the things that she missed about her father is he was always going to her event but later in the book, her parents totally ignored her? <br/><br/>I need to see how Matteo got Lucia jammed up. Why did they believe him? <br/><br/>How did Martinez get out of the gang? <br/><br/>How did she get out of the country? Where was the money from? How did she have all these different identities? And if she had them from being undercover, why wouldn't the NYPD already have that information and put her on a watchlist?"
"Plans never go as you want them to go, but that doesn't mean you can't be spontaneous an take the worst of a situation and turn it into something even better.<br/><br/>Juli and Rene have done a fantastic job yet again. <br/><br/>Continuing with "My Favorite Things" as mentioned in book 1, Cari and Josh are at it again. A storm has threatened to ruin their anniversary, but Josh won't let the storm get them down. Leaving Cari to pout for a while, Josh sets up his own little anniversary surprise for Cari. One that leaves her glad that her original plans were ruined. <br/><br/>This book is not intended for those who are not adventurous and willing to try new things (18+ only)"
